Did you know that London has five airports Heathrow, Gatwick, London City Airport, Luton and London Stansted and that you can see these from Google Earth.
Whilst the capital claims these five airports are you aware of how close they are to the centre of London and where they are. The links below show all the airport locations so you can get the overall picture before you select which one to fly to.
If you have Google Earth installed on your computer click on the globe image to bring the locations to your computer and check them out. You can then be prepared before you get on a plane.

That’s still forgetting London Marston, Northolt, Farnborough, Lydd, Biggin Hill…
I am trying to gauge the distances between the airposts as I have to change planes in London to go to Glasgow
A good site to check out the road distances is www .theaa. com - the Automobile Association site where they have a route planner and have the latest roadworks also.
Take care when allocating time for the journey as travel between the airports by road involves travel on some VERY busy motorways which can reduce your speed. Avoid afternoons between 4.00pm and 7.pm and Friday afternoon is a very bad time to travel.
could you please advise if there is a coach/bus etc that travels between london Heathrow Airport and London Luton Airport
Yes, National Express operates services from London Luton Airport to/from Heathrow Airport, 20 times a day.
Suggest you look at their site.
Could you please advise best way to go between Heathrow and Stansted airports for plane changing.
Train could be quicker, 45 mins, but you would need to go into London Liverpool Street and change - inconvenient if you have many suitcases.
Coach will be a little slower, 90 mins, but a one stop solution.
Suggest you look at the BAA website as they advise on how you get between airpoorts.
On planning a trip for my son to chelsea ground stamford bridge, which is the closest london airport I should fly into?
I looked at Chelsea’s web site - it has no advice for travel to Chelsea!
Based on local knowledge the only two airports you should consider are Heathrow and Gatwick.
Heathrow had the tube line direct into London and a fast rail line - the Paddington Express.
Gatwick has a good train line into Victoria, also on the tube line.
Which one you choose will depend on where you start from, price and seat availability.
How long would it take to travel from Gatwick to Kings Cross? And what methods of travel are there that won’t cost the earth?
The Gatwick Express is an overground train which gets to Victoria, South London in 30 minutes.
Slightly slower is the normal rail system, this will cost less.
From Victoria you can take the tube system or a taxi to get to Kings Cross in about 20 minutes.
